Will the restored face still look like the same person?
Light scratches and noise usually preserve identity. Severe blur or missing facial features force the model to invent detail — the result may look like a plausible person rather than the actual one. Use Identity First mode and always keep the original.
Can I restore a phone photo of an old print?
Yes, but glass reflections, keystone distortion, and environmental reflections in the glass will reduce quality. Photograph the print head-on without flash and with even lighting for the best result.
Can a torn-off corner or missing section be rebuilt?
The tool can generate visually coherent fill for missing areas, but these sections are AI guesses, not historically accurate reconstructions.
Is the AI colorization historically accurate?
Skin tones, sky, and common materials may look reasonable, but uniform colors, badges, vehicles, and period-specific clothing cannot be determined from grayscale alone.
Why does deep restoration make my photo look modern?
Deep mode reconstructs more texture, which can erase film grain and period character. For a vintage feel, prefer Light or Balanced restoration.
What resolution should I upload?
Upload the highest-resolution scan available — ideally before any messaging-app compression. More megapixels help the model detect scratch edges, but cannot recover information that was already lost.
